Wellness is a buzzword in our society today. What does it mean? When you think of being well, do you think of simply not being sick, or do you go farther than that? When I think of wellness, I think of feeling good in my body. Being capable of working out, carrying my daughter, hauling the groceries into the house. I think of lounging on the couch with a tea. I think of sleeping soundly at night, and enjoying the next day.
I appreciate these well-body abilities partially because I know what it’s like not to have them. We have all been there, haven’t we? That place where we feel achy, sluggish, tired, and just overall un-well? It’s a very unproductive place. Why does it happen to us, even with our best intentions? Because we get busy. Work goes late, we miss the gym. Our kids get sick, we don’t sleep well. We grab a bite at the drive-thru to save a little time. And so on… until we realize that, whoops! We’ve fallen off the Wellness Wagon.
But that’s ok. It really does happen to the best of us. The trick is noticing that we’ve slipped, and deciding to jump back on the wagon right away. Part of wellness is striving for balance, within our bodies, minds and schedules. We have to work – it’s a given. We have to stop for groceries, and clean our houses, and pay our bills. But it is possible to do all that and still have time and energy for ourselves. It’s all a matter of prioritizing wellness.
At Apollo Physical Therapy Centres, we help you do just that: prioritize wellness. We help you feel better in your body and mind. We help restore that energy that you’ve been lacking. We point you in the right direction so that you can help yourself be well.
